LEFT HAND TWIST THROTTLES

We offer a Left Twist grip Assembly that is identical to the Internal Throttle Assembly, except that it is for use on the left side of the bars and has a reversed spiral with a steeper angle to double the leverage. This can be used to pull a cable for many custom applications, but we frequently use it to activate the clutch - so we have combined it with our Twist Clutch Cable to create a complete Twist Clutch Assembly.

The Twist Clutch assembly consists of our Left Twist Assembly combined with our universal Twist Clutch Cable. The Left Twist Assembly is basically a reversed-spiral version of our ITA with a spiral twice as steep as the throttle assembly to double the amount of leverage that is applied to the cable. We routinely use this system to activate the stock HD clutch or the Primo diaphragm clutch resulting in a smooth, light twisting operation at the grip – and super-clean bars! Our Twist Clutch will, of course, work with other clutches, but remember that the stronger your clutch springs the harder the grip will be to twist.

Q & A:

Is it a single throttle cable application? Does it work with dual throttle “push-pull” bikes?

Yes it is single cable (all internal throttles are). Yes it works with any carburetor or fuel injector. The carb ‘closing’ cable is unnecessary on a modern bike – it is simply a government requirement placed on the manufacturers. Unhook that cable and your throttle will work just the same.

Motion Pro Revolver 2 Throttle Kit

The Rev2 throttle has several different size reels that will change how much twist is necessary for the throttle to completely open the carbs or throttle bodies on a motorcycle. The larger the reel is, the shorter the twist. Each reel size will shorten the twist by about 10 degrees. If your stock throttle has a 40 mm reel and stock twist is 90 degrees (1/4 turn), the 45 mm reel will reduce the twist to 80 degrees and the 50 mm reel will reduce it to 70 degrees. The 35 mm reel will increase the throttle twist to approximately 100 degrees. This is just an example; every model of motorcycle is different.

The included cam reel has a progressive profile that allows the throttle to act like a sensitive, long twist throttle during the initial small throttle openings for precise control and then acts like a more aggressive short twist throttle at large throttle openings, progressively shortening the amount of twist needed to reach full throttle.

Important Note:

The Rev2 throttle does not have the starter and kill switch wiring or switches that are built into some model's stock throttle assembly. In those cases, use of the Rev2 Throttle requires an aftermarket kill switch and starter button assembly (Motion Pro P/N 11-0098) not included in kit. Rev2 Kits have cables specifically designed for fitment on specific models, but the Rev2 throttle itself is not model specific. Therefore, in some situations, the Rev2 kit may not be a direct bolt-on installation due to space limitations on the stock handlebar. In some installations, it may be necessary to move other control components on the stock handlebar, shorten the Rev2 throttle tube and grip, install longer aftermarket handlebars, or possibly all of the above. It is up to the end user to determine the best method for fitment on their motorcycle, and ensure that the Rev2 kit is installed properly and with the correct clearances for safe operation. Installation should be done by a qualified mechanic and carefully checked for proper function. Warning: Improper installation could result in great bodily injury or death.
